Born in 2987 YA, Belle is an only child with a friendly personality and a streak of control-freakism. So much so, that she would point out that "control-freakism" isn't a word. She has lived in Atlantis since birth, brought up by her mother Umbria Sybilla, an actress in the theatre on Mummer’s Street. Her father was the late Norman Sybilla, the Land-Lord killed during the Queer Riots of 2988 YA, and Umbria brought her up in tower after his death. Due to her mother’s busy schedule, Belle quickly learned to fend for herself when her mother was called away, and was often content to watch her mother from back stage. It was here she became more interested in the designs of the stage than in the stories, and learnt from the other residents as well as her mother. She learnt how her father died, in the wars of man, and saw her father as the only man who she thought had resisted such base instincts. As Belle became more independent, she ignored her mother and focused more on her schoolwork. She moved out of the tower in 3005 YA to enroll in the city University, taking Fashion Management, a course which combined her two great interests.
Belle is probably more like her mother than she will readily admit, even if she is less friendly with men than her mother is. Her instant dislike of Blade stemmed from his brash way with women, yet they had been taught by the same teacher, Umbria. Since then, Belle has decided to simply switch her hate of men for apathy, leaving the resolution until after her current final year.
