Currency

All of the Neon countries use the same type of currency, the mark. These coins will vary in value according to age, country, and type. For example, a Basteti gold mark from 1988 YA will be worth less than the same type of coin from 2888 YA, as there will be less gold in the coin. In general, there are six countries which make marks - Bastet, Tanor, Theon, as well as Ter’Ciel, Myria and Barbaria, the last being a small alliance between Stoci, Palmeria, Tekas, Mazda and Escher.

A mark from Bastet or Tanor will be worth twice as much as one from Barbaria or Ter’Ciel, whilst a Theon mark will be worth one-and-a-half times as much as one from Barbaria or Ter’Ciel. A Myrian mark is worth three Barbaria or Ter’Ciel mark, although all this changes according to the economy of the various countries - for example, Bastet coins made in 3000 YA are worth slightly less than those of 2888 YA.

A gold mark will be worth five silver marks of the same age and country, and a silver mark will be worth five bronze marks of the same age and country. There are also "Trust" marks, which are specially engraved by the various established banks and promise a set amount of normal marks from any branch of that bank in the various countries, minus a handling and distance charge. They cannot be used in lieu of normal marks for other goods.
