Faeries

A humanoid sentient species that lives in the cloud city of Enyan, all of the population have spiritual awareness. The Faeries are very quiet on their past, instead letting humanity try to deduce their origin from what texts exist of before the War of Mages. Most scholars agree that they must be constructs of the Angels, created to protect and guide humanity. When they were first created, they were "allied with humanity, creating Relics of grand power" according to Juwer in Celestia.

However, when the Nephalim appeared, the faeries at first fought alongside man, before abandoning them to the Angels protection when the war turned deadly. This is understandable - "as Faeries died, the Nephalim grew more powerful, it seemed" writes Juwer later on, yet most humans resent this abandonment, as well as the fact they wield what "only Angels should use, for no human can withstand the force of this Magic" (Chronologica). It is thought that the rare faerie hold the same lusts as the Angels, to know human flesh. This tends to produce the mages of legend, who go on to wreck havoc on the world. Most mages today, however, are the products of interbreeding between mages and humans.

Faeries appear androgynous to most eyes, with long hair and pale skin. It is thought that because they were created by the Angels, they are not wholly physical, and have some abilities that most mages do not. For example, their clothing tends to be merely a spiritual illusion, a way of masking a witness's mind so they see what is not there. They are asexual, although there are differences between parent and child, and as mentioned there is the occasional faerie who will abandon the Fey and seek humankind, although this has not been reported for several hundred years. There is very little information on what happens when a faerie dies, although several scholars have argued that they merely move on to the spiritual realm where their creators rest.
