Born in 2989 YA, Maria was the youngest of twins by a minute. As is common to mothers of twins, such a strain lead to the death of her mother during childbirth, and Maria has always subconsciously blamed herself for her mother's death. Until her father's death in 3002 YA, she was a normal child, albeit cleverer than most of her female peers. However, she became a shy introvert after her father's death, and was shunned by her peers for being put in an orphanage. However, her brother, Shihan, protected her from the worst, and she remained friends with a select few people. She would often take walks around the city, looking over the relics that were across scattered the city, often joined by Blade. The two opposite personalities balanced each other out, and they were as close friends as Shihan and Blade.
After both her brother and Blade decided to go further in their studies, she decided to go with them, following her interest in the High Tongue and relics. She met Belle here, taking to her outgoing personality, again so opposite to her. She is still quite introverted despite the efforts of Blade, although she has taken Belle into her small group of friends.
