Myrian Federation

Population: 1,000,000 on around a thousand islands including Atlantis (Est. 2981 YA).

During the mage wars, humanity fled in various directions. To Barbaria from Tanor, from Bastet to Northern Tanor and the southern lands beyond Bastet, and from everywhere to the islands of the aptly named Myrian Ocean. There are over two thousand islands known and mapped in this ocean, with around a thousand inhabited by small communities dating back to those years. After the wars ended, contact between the islands, around a hundred-strong at the time, was slow but certain. The Federation was created to help them grow, a catch-all alliance between everyone on the islands. Most islands restrict them growing to more than a hundred people, but there are over two hundred islands which hold several hundred people and more than two towns. For the most part even these do not communicate much with the rest of Neon, instead using Atlantis as a marketplace to the world.

In recent years, the Myrian Federation has sent its Kahunas back to Atlantis after leaving in disgust at the city’s state in 2025 YA. This is due in part to Kahuna Melchior’s efforts to bring back Atlantis from the brink and see the Myrian Federation as the power it was a millennia ago. The islands have little need for this as most islands do well enough to be self-sufficient, yet the younger generation are already reaping the benefit of trade flowing into Myria through its prodigal capital.

Government

To have every island represented in Atlantis would be impossible and time-consuming, as communication still takes a year between far-flung islands. Instead, the mayors of smaller islands will communicate several times a year with the Kahuna of larger islands nearby who represent them. Most Kahunas will have several mayors report to them, as well as handling matters on their own island. These groups of islands under one Kahuna are known as a cluster, and there will be communication and trade between the clusters at several times a year. Most Kahunas will also make the trip to Atlantis to vote on important manners, or send a regent to represent them in the Kahuna’s Tower. However, one cluster cannot rule over another, although several attempts were made to create a Myrian King before the fall of Atlantis in 2019 YA.
