Nephalim

As little is known of the origins of the Nephalim as is known of the Angels and the Fey. After the Angels descended to Neon and created the Fey for our protection and enlightenment, humanity entered a brief glimpse of a golden age within the city of Fren. They spread out, inhabiting the lush plains of what is now Tanor, spreading south into the sparse forests of Bastet. Then came the Nephalim. Unlike the Fey, who draw on Beond’s order, they wield Apollyon’s chaotic force. Unlike the Fey, who are mostly physical, the Nephalim were Spiritual, like the Angels. They were unharmed by humanity as they wreaked havoc across Neon, but could be flung back to the spiritual realm by the Angels and Fey. This struggle would become known as the War of Mages, as humanity was led from the battlefield of Bastet and Fren into Barbaria.

Yet the struggle became ever more useless, the Nephalim becoming even more stronger as conflict went on. They seemed to multiply off the deaths of the Fey, becoming ever stronger. Finally they struck at Fren itself, throwing half the city into ruin. Here, Anahita stood and forged a plan, to create a link powerful enough to let Her throw all the Nephalim back. The Hope Link, the volatile link that stood within the Tower of Hope until recently, was that link. It allowed Anahita the focus over a wide area to cut swathes into the Nephalim swarms, until every last one was defeated. Whilst the city and lands of Fren were wastelands, the people of Neon settled safely within Barbaria. The faeries had long since fled into Enyan, the rest of the Angels returned in shame to the spiritual plane. From this, humanity grew again, knowing of their past, living as they could.
