War Of Mages

The colloquial term for the century-long conflict between faeries and Nephalim three millennia ago. Sparked off by the appearance of the Nephalim in western Fren, their origin unknown, they were able to raze several towns before proper resistance was organized. Using the foresight of what the Nephalim were capable of, the Angels led humanity away from Tanor and Fren, across Ter’Ciel and into Barbaria. At the same time, the faeries, numbering in the thousands, hit back at the Nephalim and tried to throw them back to Apollyon in the chaotic side of the spiritual plane. Very little is known of exact battles, yet it known that despite their small numbers, the Nephalim eventually started to overcome the resistance, with several groups penetrating Tanor before being wiped out.

Once humanity was safely hidden away, the Angels themselves were able to turn their gaze towards the core of the problem, that the Nephalim simply kept reappearing whenever the two sides fought. The other angels blamed themselves, yet Anahita, Mother of All and Sustainer of Life, sought to try once more to save humanity. Whilst the Angels fled back to Beond’s arm, and the faeries fled in fear to Enyan, Anahita rushed to the battlefield. Wielding the Hope Link, a link of immense strength, and the Sword Of Beond, a relic of vast control potential, Anahita was able to hold battle with the large numbers of Nephalim that roamed Fren. Again, very little is known of this battle, apart from texts from the Basteti people, which tell "A great light erupted upon the horizon, and the earth trembled beneath our feet. Two suns battled for superiority, and a great scream tore across the sky as the southern sun vanished. We all felt in our hearts that She had perished to save us."

From the death of Anahita, the new calendar began, and a new era for humanity beckoned.
